The thesis templates have been created to make it easy to prepare your thesis using LaTeX while adhering to the MIT Thesis Specifications. We make every effort to keep these up to date, but you should always consult the MIT Libraries Thesis Specifications before submitting your thesis. If you notice something in the Thesis Specifications that does not match the templates, please let us know by e-mailing us at thesis AT mit DOT edu.

The template for bachelor’s, 1-year and 2-year master’s theses is called Essay template and is available on the computers in all computer rooms and at the University Library. You can also download it here:
This template is suitable for shorter assignments, lab reports and the like. It provides cover sheet, table of contents, and correct typography.

Microsoft’s support for Word 2010 will discontinue on the 13th October 2020 (more information). The support for Word 2011 Mac was discontinued on the 10th October 2017 (more information).
